Onset/Rime
This assessment was found on a US AID website that contains education data for decision making. It is a formal assessment that can be found on pages 7 and 8 of the Early Reading Assessment packet. It is aimed at helping students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade and possibly some struggling 4th and 5th graders. The assessment measures whether or not a child can use word making patterns to read words. The games are an informal assessment and are aimed to help students in grades Kindergarten through third grade. The assessment measure how well the student can identify and comprehend segmenting, blending and matching onset and rime. It would take no longer than 15 minutes for the students to play the game which could be done as a whole class or in small groups.

This is an informal spelling assessment that was found on a blog website called This Reading Mama. She pulled the assessments straight from Words Their Way. This specific assessment has 25 words for 1st through 5th graders. It measures what your students understand and don't understand about phonics. The assessment would take about 10 minutes and can be given to the whole class at once.

Each test measures something different: syllables and letter names to name a few. The assessment would take about 10 to 15 minutes to administer and would best be given as a individual test.

This fluency assessment was created by McGraw-Hill and is an informal assessment. This specific test is made just for students in 2nd grade, however the website has multiple assessments for students in different grades, from 1st through 6th. The reading passage assesses the students oral fluency and would take about 10 minutes to administer to each student individually.

This is a formative assessment that was created by the Florida Department of Education in Tallahassee, Florida. There are multiple assessments to target students in 1st grade all the way to 5th grade. The assessment measures how fluently a student can read a passage within a certain amount of time. The test has to be administered individually to each student so the teacher can easily monitor how well the student progresses through the passages.
