This assessment was found . It is an informal assessment and targets students in grades Pre-K through 2nd grade. The goal of this assessment is to find out whether or not the student comprehend directionality, sweeping/return sweep, the difference between a letter and a word and what a punctuation mark looks like. The assessment takes about 15 minutes to read the book and ask the student questions. The teacher would need to assess each student individually to get a clear understanding of where the student is.

This assessment was found on Hello Literacy, a blog website set up by Jen Jones. It is a formal assessment for students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade. The goal of the assessment is to measure what the student's know versus what they don't know. The teacher can write the students names in each square that they are struggling in and create small groups to help work on those areas. The assessment would take around 20 minutes to complete for each individual student.

This assessment comes from the Scholastic website under the teacher products section. It is a formal assessment that is best used with students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade. The assessment measures the students ability to recognize rhyming words, oral blending, segmentation and phonemic manipulation. The amount of time required to administer the assessment would be about 15 minutes, to save some time the teacher can choose to work with students in small groups and keep a running record of each students responses to the questions asked.

This assessment was personally created and administered by myself, with some guidance from a college professor of mine. It is a summative assessment and was used on a 2nd grade student. It measures a variety of areas, from letter names and sounds to digraphs and phonograms. This assessment personally took me about 30 minutes over a period of 3-4 days to administer to one student.

Phonological Awareness
The Phonological Awareness Skills Test (PAST) is an informal test that was found on the special connections website. The test is individually administered orally to each student in 1st and 2nd grade. The goal of the assessment is to find the best point of instruction for each student and monitor them as they go through the year. This test would probably take about 20 minutes to administer to each student.

This test is similar to the last but is known as the Phonological Awareness Skills Screener (PASS) and is an informal assessment that works best for students in grades K through 2nd, but can be used with older students who need remediation. The test is designed to help teachers identify at risk students in reading and spelling. There are 10 sections: Word Discrimination, Rhyme Recognition, Rhyme Production, Syllable Blending, Syllable Segmentation, Syllable Deletion, Phoneme Recognition, Phoneme Blending, Phoneme Segmentation, and Phoneme Deletion. Each section will take about 1 to 3 minutes to administer to students individually.

Sight Word Vocabulary
This assessment was found on Make, Take, Teach; a blog website created by an elementary teacher named Julie. It is a formal assessment used to track progress of students knowledge of sight words. The assessment can be used for students of any age in grades K through 2nd because there are 9 separate lists (from the 220 Dolch Sight Words) to target each students ability. The assessment should take about 5-10 minutes to administer to the students individually and probably 15-20 if instructed in small group settings.

The assessment is best used for students in grades K through 2nd. The website has 10 sets of Fry lists to choose from depending on students difficulty level and below I have the 4th list as an example. It would take about 5-10 minutes to administer this assessment to students during an individual meeting.
